How to use
- 1Type or paste the 11-digit Turkish ID number.
- 2The length, first digit and the 10th and 11th check digits are verified instantly.
- 3To check several at once, put one number per line; the results appear in a table.
- 4Developers can generate 1–50 fake test numbers under “Generate sample numbers for testing”.
The TC Kimlik checksum algorithm
A Turkish identity number (T.C. Kimlik Numarası) has 11 digits and cannot start with 0. The last two digits are check digits. The 10th digit is ((digits 1+3+5+7+9) × 7 − (digits 2+4+6+8)) mod 10, and the 11th digit is the sum of the first 10 digits mod 10. The tool checks these rules in order and, if a number fails, shows the first failing step and the expected check digit — handy for spotting a single mistyped digit.
It does not look up people
Validation only confirms that the number is mathematically well formed. It does not check whether the number belongs to a real person, nor match it with a name or date of birth, and it never connects to the NVİ population registry. Numbers are processed entirely in your browser and are not sent to any server. Foreign residents can use it the same way to check the foreigner identification number on their residence permit, which follows the same 11-digit format.
Test data for developers
Teams building sign-up forms, e-commerce checkouts, e-invoicing or KYC flows for the Turkish market need numbers that pass validation. The generator creates 1–50 random numbers with correctly calculated check digits, clearly marked as fake test data. They are for software testing only, may not be presented as anyone’s real identity and must not be used in official transactions.
Frequently asked questions
How can I tell if a Turkish ID number is valid?
It must have 11 digits, must not start with 0, and its 10th and 11th digits must match the checksum formulas. The tool checks all of this instantly.
Does a valid result mean the person exists?
No. Only the checksum is verified; confirming identity is the job of the NVİ registry, which this tool does not query.
Are the numbers I enter stored?
No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
What are the generated test numbers for?
For form validation and automated tests in development environments. They must not be used for real transactions.
